Let us not just send material relief, but also psychological and spiritual relief. Let us have God’s Love permeate the island, creating harmony among the survivors, and ease of operation among the rescuers, so they can reach their targets efficiently and timely.
Every time you remember them, pray for them and visualize them reconnected with the divine, as God’s Love flows through them and around them. Forget the tarnished TV images and remember the happiness and glow of the new mothers with a baby being born after the earthquake.
Remember the image of the three presidents committing to help Haiti recover, and how they praised the resiliency of the people.
Remember plane after plane arriving to help. Doctor after doctor doing triage, surgery, and relief. Psychologist after psychologist trained in disaster preparedness work with the Red Cross to provide emotional and psychological relief.
Let us take this opportunity to resurrect Haiti from its poverty, illiteracy, and joblessness a country able to thrive and takecare of itself. Let us change it’s consciousness from victimhood and dependency, to one of self-resiliency, love, care for one another, and entrepreneurial spirit.
From a backdrop of self-hatred, as stated by Elizabeth Ritza Vieux:
If we decompose the word ‘haitiens,’ phonetically we get ‘Hai Siens’ = qui hait les siens (One who hates his own).
Isn’t it quite a reality in our country, where hatred is like a disease acid that corrodes our country, where one hates the other and usually for no particular reason… it’s been like this since the beginning…
I believe that a name can have an important impact or influence on: a person, an animal or why not a country. I heard from my grand mother of a girl whose name meant something like veuve = widow. She got married 3 times, and each time she would lose her husband (by death). This might not be related to her name, but who can say that it was not either… Haiti which I see as a negative word.
Let us move to a backdrop of a paradise island with wonderful people. Haiti then means Ha IT I “Hi, IT (God) is with me (I).”
