Chilean activists are celebrating the June 5th International Environmental Day by advocating against dams harnessing hydro-electrical power in the pristine regions of their Patagonia. They have carried a terrific campaign against the “powers that be” to stop the assault on their lands, mountains, rivers an oceans.

In this link you will get a better picture of their work:

http://www.patagoniasinrepresas.cl

Their pictures clearly depict the before and after state of their land if the “Aysen Hydro-electrical Enterprises” are allowed to “follow the money” while destroying the environment.

I certainly wish we could have had the foresight to have the equivalent before and after pictures of the Gulf of Mexico before this disaster happened. Except no one would probably have followed them because greed’s voice is louder here…And we had pictures and stories of very similar spills and tragedies caused by BP before. We didn’t listen. Do we need a two-by-four? Hopefully this will be our wake-up call. But this wake-up call is not just for the enlightened few, but for all of us. Remember J.F.K.’s dictum? “Ask not what my country can do for me, but what I can do for my country!”

Here are some You Tube videos of proposed unusual solutions to the spill, as well as requests for prayers for those affected. The bioremediation is already in place, since oil-eating organisms naturally abound in the area, but maybe a combination of systems would help. As usual, the conspiracy theorists believe this was a planned disaster, given that Halliburton seems to have bought the stock in “Boots and Coots,” a company that does oil clean up, a few days before the spill, and that BP had no emergency plan. They forget that BP has a history of recklessness and lawlessness, and was able to get away with it because it was in cahoots with prior government agencies supposed to regulate it. It is still paying for prior lawsuits. Their criminal behavior may have come to an end. So the clean-up will not just start in the Gulf of Mexico, but it has already started in the corrupt government agencies responsible for lack of regulation that Obama inherited. Maybe Obama will also learn a lesson or two. When there was a bill in Congress to hold the prior administration accountable for its war crimes, and creating the mess we are in now, he said: “No, I want to look to the future,” and suppressed the bill. In my brochure on “Holistic Renewal, The Elgin Process of Creative Self-Mastery,” I state my favorite quote: The unexamined experience echoes through the halls of time and reaches us where we live. We are traumatized once by an external event, but we traumatize ourselves daily if we fail to examine the memory. And this is true for individuals, couples, families, work environments, states, countries, and the world. Basically, if we cannot, or will not, learn from our past we are condemmed to repeat it, and have no future.
The last video is very graphic of the event, and people coming together to hug and console one another. And this is what we should continue to do. Those of us who do energy work, or causal work, or who just know how to meditate, and those who care enough to pray, do so, and help out at whatever level we can.

CELEBRATING MEMORIAL DAY AS A DAY OF SERVICE

TO: OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN

RE: CELEBRATING MEMORIAL DAY AS A DAY OF SERVICE

DATE: 5/31/2010

Dear Service Men and Women:

I appreciate what you do for us, which is beyond the usual “protect our country:” you set an example of sterling character traits, which —like the star of Bethlehem — guides us to transcend our petty egos and reach out to our Higher Self, and do for others. In the process, you risk your lives and your physical, emotional, social, and financial well-being, and that of your families.

As a Holistic Psychologist, I will follow your example: I will offer you help in overcoming the emotional trauma you and your families have gone through with this war. I will do so without cost to you, dedicating a day of my week, through September, to help you re-integrate back home, and leave behind the nightmares you have gone through, so that they don’t haunt your future, but the valuable lessons learned enrich your life. It is my humble offering to your heroic lives.

Feel free to leave your name and phone number at my office: 760-445-7244 and schedule an appointment. If you are not local, this can be done over the phone and by email: DrGitaElgin@HolisticRenewal.com.

May God always bless you and your families.

Let us not just send material relief, but also psychological and spiritual relief. Let us have God’s Love permeate the island, creating harmony among the survivors, and ease of operation among the rescuers, so they can reach their targets efficiently and timely.

Every time you remember them, pray for them and visualize them reconnected with the divine, as God’s Love flows through them and around them. Forget the tarnished TV images and remember the happiness and glow of the new mothers with a baby being born after the earthquake.

Remember the image of the three presidents committing to help Haiti recover, and how they praised the resiliency of the people.

Remember plane after plane arriving to help. Doctor after doctor doing triage, surgery, and relief. Psychologist after psychologist trained in disaster preparedness work with the Red Cross to provide emotional and psychological relief.

Let us take this opportunity to resurrect Haiti from its poverty, illiteracy, and joblessness a country able to thrive and takecare of itself. Let us change it’s consciousness from victimhood and dependency, to one of self-resiliency, love, care for one another, and entrepreneurial spirit.

From a backdrop of self-hatred, as stated by Elizabeth Ritza Vieux:

If we decompose the word ‘haitiens,’ phonetically we get ‘Hai Siens’ = qui hait les siens (One who hates his own).

Isn’t it quite a reality in our country, where hatred is like a disease acid that corrodes our country, where one hates the other and usually for no particular reason… it’s been like this since the beginning…

I believe that a name can have an important impact or influence on: a person, an animal or why not a country. I heard from my grand mother of a girl whose name meant something like veuve = widow. She got married 3 times, and each time she would lose her husband (by death). This might not be related to her name, but who can say that it was not either… Haiti which I see as a negative word.

Let us move to a backdrop of a paradise island with wonderful people. Haiti then means Ha IT I “Hi, IT (God) is with me (I).”

We have created a new sub-section devoted to The Holistic Village. It lives in the Holistic Renewal section under “Village”.
